Home Safety & Modifications

Falls can trip up people of all ages, but according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, most falls happen in the home to people age 65 and older during everyday activities.

Home Safety Walk-Through

Students from Creighton University and University of Nebraska at Omaha are able to walk through a home safety checklist with an older adult in their home. They can provide feedback on changes needed to create a safer environment. If you have an older adult that could benefit from this service, please e-mail the F1RST Program Manager or call (402) 896-0454 to set up an appointment.

Home Safety Provider Directory

F1RST also maintains a directory of providers for Home Modifications and other services to assist in lessening the risks of falls throughout the home.

Feel free to download our printable Safety Checklist, developed by the Minnesota Safety Council.
